Employee guns down coworker at Texas restaurant; Manhunt ongoing

A Sonic restaurant employee remains at large in Las Cruces, Texas after he allegedly shot and killed a coworker Tuesday night.

The shooting took place just before 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Sonic Drive-In on the Foothills Road in Las Cruces.

First responders pronounced 20-year-old Benjamin Hernandez dead at the scene. He was reportedly suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

  • Detectives said he and coworker Luciano Roman Valente Frias, 21, got into an argument prior to the shooting.

    Frias shot the victim and fled the restaurant on foot. Police are still looking for Frias who was described as standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds.
