Three people were hospitalized Wednesday after their small plane crash-landed on a Vermont mountain, officials said.
The crash occurred in Mount Equinox around 8:30 a.m. just after the plane took off from Martin State Airport.
The Maryland pilot and his two adult children were aboard the plane but “miraculously” only suffered minor injuries.
Around 100 first responders rushed to the scene, defying heavy snow. Investigators believe the extreme conditions helped prevent serious injuries.
“There’s really no way you can train to this point,” said Jamie Greene of the Manchester Fire Department.
“It’s just one of them things you just kinda have to go with the flow because you can trail all you want. The biggest thing is manpower and all-terrain vehicles.”
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
