Police in LaGrange, Georgia have arrested a man and charged him in connection to the last week's slaying of a couple.
Jabreka Williams, 38, and her 40-year-old boyfriend Roderick Kennedy, were found with fatal gunshot wounds inside William’s burning home at around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 8.
Investigators determined the couple were killed before the fire broke out. Within hours, Williams’ ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Travis Rivers, was arrested.
Williams’ family said the suspect was abusive to her and that he had recently been released from jail.
“He shouldn’t have took her life like that,” Williams’ stepmother said.
Kennedy’s mother said she heard fire truck sirens blocks away from her home but did not imagine her son was killed.
“He was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and it’s hurting me so bad. They just didn’t have to do it the way they did it.”
