Two people were killed Saturday night after a plane crashed in the woods just minutes after taking off from an Atlanta airport.
The small aircraft crashed about 20 minutes after leaving Georgia’s Covington Municipal Airport at around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Newton County authorities were alerted by the Federal Aviation Administration at 11:21 p.m. to a single-engine plane that lost all contact after appearing in free fall on tracking data.
Law enforcement located the plane’s wreck in the woods north of the runway.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash.
