A 7-year-old drag racer died days after suffering fatal injuries in a crash on an Orlando racetrack, her family announced.
Elienisse Zoe Diaz succumbed to her injuries Tuesday after “fighting for her life” since the Sunday crash at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
“It is with immense sadness and devastation that I share the passing of our sweet girl, Elienisse Zoe Diaz last night,” her family said on social media.
“She was called home and entered the gates of heaven – fully healed from her earthly injuries.”
The girl had just gotten a new car for her birthday days before the tragedy. She reportedly lost control of the Junior Dragster and struck an employee before slamming into a wall.
As the National Hot Rod Association investigates the crash, the Orlando Speed World Dragway issued a statement mourning the girl’s passing.
“Motorsports is built on passion, but moments like these remind us of the risks that come with what we love,” it read.
