3 killed, 3 injured in early morning crash in Indiana

Three people were killed and three others injured in an early morning crash on I-74 in Boone County, Indiana.

Officials said the crash occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of I-74 near the 51.5 mark.

Deputies located two involved vehicles, a Kia Soul and a pickup truck, in a ditch off the roadway. A damaged semi-truck was found in the eastbound lanes.

  • Investigators believe the Kia was traveling eastbound when it rear-ended the semi-truck and crossed the median colliding head-on with the pickup truck.

    The victims were occupants of the Kia Soul. They were identified as 27-year-old Ashley Morgan and two children.

    A third juvenile and two occupants of the pickup truck were taken to hospital.

    The crash remains under investigation. All lanes of I-74 are closed near the crash site.
