Two Florida teens were killed Friday night after a crash involving their pick-up truck and a sedan in Highlands County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The victims were traveling southbound on U.S. 27 in the outside lane at around 9:50 p.m. when a 17-year-old boy driving the sedan southbound tried to switch to the outside lane colliding head-on with the pickup.
The impact sent the pick-up rolling multiple times leaving the roadway. The 18-year-old male driver and his 17-year-old female passenger, both from Lake Placid, were ejected from the truck.
They were rushed to area hospitals but couldn’t be saved. Police said none of them were wearing seat belts.
The sedan’s occupants were not injured. The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
