A Florida teen was charged with manslaughter on Wednesday weeks after he allegedly beat his father to death during an argument over a “plate of food.”

Julien Welch-Beddoe, 19, and his father started a physical fight late on Jan. 19 after the father told his son he “didn’t deserve” his “plate of food” because he was jobless.

The father, 45-year-old Francis Welch, reportedly pushed his son as he brought the food to his bedroom.

Police said the younger man then got his father in a chokehold on the ground until the older man’s fiancée intervened. He then left them and went to his room.

Welch reportedly started “breathing through his mouth” and “appeared to turn yellow/pale”. He passed away shortly later at a hospital.

Autopsy results showed that Welch died from internal bleeding of his spleen, caused by one of his three fractured ribs. His death was ruled a homicide.
