Port Richey news, Florida news.

A Florida man is facing murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed his friend and then claimed the victim was an intruder.

Pasco County Deputies responded to a home off Grand Boulevard shortly after midnight on Jan. 28.

A drunken John Hainlin, 61, called 911 claiming that he shot a home invader and went to his neighbor’s home and repeated the same claims.

Deputies found 74-year-old Ross Coyle dying from gunshot wounds in a recliner. He succumbed shortly later at a hospital.

Hainlain allegedly explained to detectives in a “slurred speech” how he found the stranger in his living room after spending the evening drinking with a friend.

After reviewing surveillance footage, investigators saw no one leaving the home before the shooting.

They also searched Hainlain's phone which showed no evidence of him arranging a ride for the friend.
