Man charged with murder of missing ex-girlfriend after ‘substantial amount’ of blood found in bathroom

Michigan authorities have charged a 32-year-old man with murder a month after his ex-girlfriend vanished without a trace.

Deandre Booker, 32, is facing premeditated murder, dismembering and mutilation of a corpse, and tampering with evidence charges in connection to the death of Ashley Elkins, 30.

“We conducted a search warrant on the residence and ultimately found what we believed to be a large crime scene with a substantial amount of blood in the bathroom,” police said.

“DNA did, in fact, confirm that the blood belonged to the victim.”

  • The suspect and victim recently broke up, according to Elkins’ family. She vanished on Jan. 2 after leaving her home to run errands.

    “Her mother has said numerous times, ‘He threw her out with the trash,” Uncle Maurice Morton said. “That’s disheartening.”

    Police searched Pine Tree Acres Landfill for Elkins’ remains in vain. the mother-of-two’s family hopes to find her body soon.

    “We want to be able to bury her like a human deserves to be laid to rest. I know it’s hard for her youngest son to come to terms with it because we are constantly asking ourselves where is she?” cousin Taylor Redmond said.
