‘A tragic situation’: Boy, 14, gunned down after breaking into West Memphis home with 2 juveniles

A 14-year-old Tennessee boy is dead after he was fatally shot while trying to break into a home with two other teens Sunday evening.

West Memphis Police officers found the boy fatally shot inside the residence at around 7:45 p.m. while responding to a burglary in progress.

Investigators believe the teen and his two accomplices aged 16 and 11 years old were attempting to break into the home when a resident fired several shots.

  • The two surviving teens were arrested and charges against them are expected. The charges could include murder and aggravated residential burglary.

    “We are deeply saddened by the events that transpired,” said West Memphis Police Chief Robbin Campbell.

    “This is a tragic situation that underscores the dangers of criminal activity and the severe consequences that can follow.”
