Authorities in New Haven said Wednesday that two officers were shot while serving a search warrant at a New Haven apartment complex.
The suspect involved in the shooting was killed after he opened fire at West Haven Police officers trying to execute the search warrant at around 5:30 a.m.
“It became a standoff situation,” said New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson.
“After a period of time, the suspect was not responding to officers who were trying to call him out, trying to talk him out, and then it was discovered that in one of the exchanges of gunfire, the suspect was struck and deceased.”
The two injured officers are expected to be OK. An 8-year-old girl and two other residents of the apartment were not harmed.
