An American Airlines employee was fatally hit by a vehicle on the tarmac at Charlotte Douglas International Airport early Monday, authorities said.
The crash occurred along the airport’s on-ramp at around 9:40 a.m. Monday. First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Officials said the employee was struck by an airline ramp vehicle adding that there were “no significant impacts to operations.”
“We are devastated by the accident involving a team member at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT),” the airline said in a statement.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and our local team members. We are focused on ensuring that all involved have the support they need during this difficult time.”
