4 injured after Delta Airlines flight aborts takeoff at Atlanta airport

Four people were wounded early Friday when a Delta-Airlines flight aborted the takeoff at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The 201 passengers, two pilots, and five flight attendants aboard the Minneapolis-bound flight were forced to evacuate the plane through emergency slides after it experienced an engine problem.

They were then bused back to a concourse where the injured received treatment including one that required hospitalization.

  • Delta Spokesperson Morgan Durrant said the crew “followed established procedures to suspend the takeoff.”

    “Nothing is more important than the safety of our people and customers, and we apologize to our customers for their experience,” he added.

    “We are working to support our customers and get them to their destinations as safely and quickly as possible.”

    The incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
