Memphis man fatally shoots brother after argument

A Memphis man has been charged in connection to the death of his brother last weekend.

Officers responded to a Burdette Avenue home at around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 19 over reports of a shooting.

Once at the scene, they learned from a woman that her sons, Edward and Edmund Bowdery were arguing while she was in the kitchen.

  • The mother saw Edmund Bowderly locking himself inside his room moments before his brother Edward followed, firing multiple shots into his door.

    Edmund was found dead inside his room. His brother fled the scene leaving behind a Glock 19, 9mm handgun.

    He was later located by the police and arrested in the 500 block of Orchard Avenue.

    Edward Bowdery was charged with first-degree murder and evading arrest.
