An elementary school student died Friday in a tragic accident at the school’s drop-off area, police in Borger said.
The second-grader’s coat got stuck in a vehicle door as they were being dropped off outside Gateway Elementary at around 8 a.m.
Life-saving measures were provided at the scene. The child was then taken to a local hospital where they died.

Out of respect for the family, the child’s identity was not immediately revealed.
“At this time, we ask for understanding, patience, and compassion for all those affected,” authorities said.
