An eighth-grade student died Wednesday afternoon at Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy in Little Rock after suffering a medical emergency.
The Little Rock School District Superintendent Dr. Jermall Wright said that the girl died at a local hospital despite life-saving measures at the scene.
“Know that as soon as our campus staff was made aware of the incident, we made efforts to leverage building and district staff to prioritize the emotional wellbeing of our students and staff,” the statement read.
“This was all done while working to maintain the privacy of the immediate family and with an effort to not disseminate any misinformation, preserving their dignity during their time of loss.”
The student’s identity was not made public. The school is collaborating with the police in their investigation.
