A Wisconsin boy died in a shooting at a residence where his stepfather was taken into custody on reckless homicide charges.
The fatal shooting of 9-year-old Michael Meagher took place at a home on Lincoln Avenue in Lake Geneva at around 2 a.m. Monday.
“It’s a hard scene for any officer; you never want to see that,” Police Chief Anthony Miceli said.

The victim died at a hospital. His stepfather, 52-year-old Steven Merkel Jr., was arrested at the scene.
“Our family is heartbroken. I want to try to help this family in any way that I can,” said Katherine Koskinas, a GoFundMe’s organizer.
“Michael was 9 years old & a bright, funny boy. Please pray for this family during this difficult time.”
