Utah girl, 17, fatally shot by unknown driver who chased her pickup for miles

A Utah girl is dead after she was fatally shot by an unknown driver who had chased her pickup for miles, witnesses and police said.

Bystanders called 911 late Friday when the girl’s truck lost control and struck a vinyl fence after the shooting.

  • Iron County authorities said the shooter pursued the victim for miles before pulling alongside her and opening fire.

    “Between 10:15 PM and 11:00 PM, we urge anyone who may have witnessed a small red pickup truck being closely followed by a dark-colored truck or SUV on Lund Highway between 1600 North and Midvalley Road or heading west on Midvalley Road towards the Three Peaks Campground area to come forward,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
