An Iowa couple was arrested after they allegedly ignored an injured baby’s cries until she stopped breathing.
Chad Gibbs, 23, told detectives he fell down stairs while holding the baby causing her head to hit a door frame and dropping her three to four feet to the ground.
After the incident, the baby’s mother Sarah Lembke noticed that the child was crying continuously and that she had a bruise on her face.
Despite the girl’s cries and visible distress, the couple ignored her until she stopped breathing hours later.
Gibbs admitted to “accidentally” elbowing the baby and squeezing her to his chest after he became upset with her crying about a week earlier.
He and Lembke, 22, were charged with child endangerment/serious injury.
