A California man was arrested last week after he allegedly called 911 to report slaughtering his girlfriend at a local hotel.
Uriel Gamboa, 31, was charged with murder, use of a deadly weapon, crime being committed with great bodily injury, and crime involving great violence in the death of 24-year-old Aliya Pitts.
The suspect called police shortly before 11 p.m. on Jan. 6 and allegedly confessed to killing Pitts inside a room at the Palm Garden Hotel in Thousand Oaks.
Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and located Pitt’s body.
The VC Medical Examiner’s Office determined Pitt died from sharp and blunt force injuries with probable strangulation.
Prosecutors revealed Gamboa attacked the victim with a “broken bottle/shards of glass.”
“Gamboa sustained self-inflicted injuries, the District Attorney’s Office said adding that he told detectives he was “feeling suicidal.”
