Maine man cuts own face with razor so he could send girlfriend to jail

A Maine man accused of assaulting his girlfriend was back in jail after he allegedly assaulted the woman again and cut his own face with a razor blade blaming her for his injuries.

Aric Houghton, 30, was initially arrested on Jan. 7 for assaulting the woman. The following day, he broke into the victim’s home and assaulted her again, police said.

After the second assault, Houghton allegedly cut his own face with a razor blade and called 911 claiming “the victim from the day before had attacked him.”

  • Police questioned the woman and learned that Houghton not only assaulted her but inflicted his own cuts and told her “he was going to get her arrested for assaulting him.”

    The woman and Houghton were taken to the hospital to receive treatment following the incident.

    Houghton was hit with another charge of domestic violence, aggravated assault, and violation of conditions of release.
