A Tennessee man has been charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly called 911 and told the dispatcher “I just shot my dad.”
The incident happened late Monday when Cedric Blue Jr., 24, called the police to confess to killing his father, Cedric Blue Sr.
Officers rushed to the apartment in Thomas Street in Uptown and found Cedric Sr. lying deceased on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
His son was outside the apartment when officers arrived and reportedly attempted to flee. He was arrested at the scene.
Cedric Sr.’s fiancé witnessed the shooting and told detectives the father had asked his son to leave the apartment.
Cedric Jr. became angry, grabbed a handgun, and left. Moments later, he came back and told his father “You gonna keep playing with me” before firing several shots.
Another witness saw the son running around the apartment while pointing a gun. Police recovered two weapons, a 9mm AR pistol and a Glock 19 handgun, from nearby bushes.
Once in custody, Cedric Jr. denied telling the dispatcher he shot his dad but claimed he actually stated his dad had been shot.
In addition to the murder charge, he was charged with evading arrest and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $1 million.
