A Florida boy is dead after a mauling incident involving two loose dogs, authorities in Volusia County said.
The 8-year-old was attacked by two dogs near the entrance of a subdivision Monday evening.
Witnesses administered CPR and called the police. The boy ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The county’s Animal Services captured the dogs, a pit bull and a mixed breed. The incident is still under active investigation.
“I don’t know what anyone can say to ease the immense pain this family is feeling tonight,” said Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
“This is a tragedy beyond comprehension, especially for those of us who are parents and grandparents.”
