A Pennsylvania man who admitted to killing and dismembering his roommate in May 2024 was discovered dead in his cell at Lehigh County Jail on Saturday afternoon.
Joshua Douglas Moser, 34, was found dead by staff in his single cell at around 3 p.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at 3:41 p.m. at St. Luke’s Hospital-Allentown.
The county coroner’s office ruled Moser’s death a suicide. No suspicious circumstances are involved in the death.
Moser had confessed to choking his roommate, 37-year-old David Hittinger, before hitting his head with a hammer and dismembering his body, discarding the parts at a local cemetery and along the D&L trail.
Hittinger had just moved to live with Moser after losing his home in a fire. On May 14, a friend requested a wellness check at the residence after he failed to show up for his birthday party.
Moser was charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and misdemeanor evidence, tampering with evidence.
