Authorities in Utah arrested a convicted felon after discovering the body of his slain girlfriend in the backseat of his car earlier this week.
Officers stopped 40-year-old Jacob Holt Johnson’s car at a 7-11 in Bluffdale shortly after midnight Tuesday to investigate a potential DUI.
While searching the vehicle, the officers found the body of Summer Tatiana Roney “with significant injuries and trauma consistent with a homicide” in the backseat.
They believe the 30-year-old victim was transported from Johnson’s home in Herriman to the convenience store.
Court documents showed that Johnson had several convictions including aggravated battery, possession of a controlled substance, felony theft, and burglary.
Roney’s family said she didn’t show up for work on Monday afternoon.
“Summer was a vibrant, kind, and loving soul who touched the lives of everyone she met,” they said in a statement.
“She was deeply loved by her friends, family, and coworkers, who will always remember her infectious personality and the joy she brought into their lives,”
“This senseless act has left an unfillable void in our hearts.”
