A Florida girl was killed by a stray bullet on New Year’s Eve while lighting fireworks with her family, Miami-Dade Police said.

Yaneliz Munguia, 10, was shot on Northwest 21st Terrace near 27th Avenue at around 1:30 a.m., police said.

The girl’s parents saw her collapse before seeing a gunshot wound in her head.

The parents rushed her to a nearby hospital and called 911. Munguia succumbed to her injuries at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Police said the stray bullet was fired into the air from an unknown location.

“We say time and time again, every New Year’s, that what goes up must come down,” said Detective Andre Martin.
