Police in Indianapolis described a gruesome scene where the body of a woman was discovered in a pool of blood early Monday.
Shanaiya McDonald was found dead from obvious trauma to her head by her roommate at around 5:45 a.m.
Officers found blood spattered everywhere in the room and a bloody towel tossed on the porch. The victim had plastic tape on her face.
The woman’s roommate told police that she suspected McDonald’s boyfriend, Regulus Baka, had committed the heinous crime.
Surveillance footage caught a Ford Fusion leaving the scene and a male suspect tossing the victim’s phone and computer in a dumpster.
The car’s owner told detectives that Baka was at his parent’s home. There, Baka surrendered admitting to McDonald’s murder.
The 22-year-old detailed how he bashed McDonald’s head with a space heater and frying pan before taping her nose so that she wouldn’t breathe.
“I just wanted her dead,” he allegedly said.
The suspect claimed his girlfriend frequently cheated on him and slapped him in the face, which initiated their deadly fight.
