A North Carolina man is accused of killing his elderly mother and attacking two bail bondsmen when they showed up at his home on Dec. 16.
Caleb Jones, 46, armed himself with an ax when the two bail bondsmen arrived at his home to discuss a court appearance that he had missed.
Hoke County Captain Daniel Shipp said Jones’ 73-year-old mother, Linda Hall, was trying to help him when he attacked her with the ax.
Jones also attacked one of the two officials, striking him with the ax in the “upper body area”.
Police and EMS responded to the Rockfish Road residence after the attack. Jones was eventually arrested after barricading himself inside the home.
He now faces charges of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and assault inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
