Suspect’s mother found dead inside Tennessee home after standoff with police

A Tennessee man’s mother was found dead Thursday inside a home where he barricaded himself during a “crisis intervention/kidnapping” situation.

John Langevin surrendered to Bartlett Police after the standoff at the 4100 block of Luther Road. Officers entered the residence and found his mother deceased.

Langevin now faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

  • “The investigation remains active and ongoing. Investigators are working to determine the series of events leading to the death of the victim, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews,” the department said.

    Neighbors recalled at least four times police responded to the home prior to Thursday's standoff.

    Langevin has an extensive rap sheet dating back to 1999 including aggravated kidnapping, assault, burglary, and theft.
