A Missouri mother-of-five was fatally struck by a train on Christmas Eve after her car became stuck on the railroad tracks for “unknown reason.”
Ashley Hogan, 35, was killed on her way home from work at around 3:30 a.m. when her car left the roadway and ended up on the tracks.
“We know the vehicle traveled off the roadway for really an unknown reason, became stuck in the gravel area beside the railroad tracks,” Cpl. Dallas Thompson said.
Hogan leaves behind five daughters ranging in age from 6 to 15. Her mother said she was planning to celebrate Christmas with her girls.
“For the most part, it’s been difficult. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the reality of I no longer have my daughter, and they no longer have their mom,” the mother said.
“She would always try to figure out what can I do to top the last Christmas, and unfortunately, that didn’t happen this year.”
