New York City news, New York news.

Six people were injured Monday when two gunmen opened fire in a Bronx bodega, the New York Police Department said.

The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. when the two suspects launched a hail of bullets in the middle of White Plains Road in Gun Hill, the Bronx hitting six innocent bystanders including a woman and her 12-year-old daughter who were used as “human shields” by the targeted people.

Acting Chief of Department John Chell said when the gunmen, aged between 18 and 21, opened fire in the bodega, the targeted “grabbed” the mother and daughter who were standing at the counter and spun them around, using them as barriers to the bullets.

“What we know by video so far is we have two shooters running across White Plains Road shooting at a group of people in front of the convenience store,” he said.
