Two people were killed and a third injured Wednesday when gunshots erupted outside an IHOP restaurant in Miramar, Florida.
Police said the three people knew each other and the community was not threatened.
“We’re not looking for any suspects at this time. We want to reassure the public that this wasn’t a random act of violence,” said police spokeswoman Janice McIntosh.
Officers found the three victims, two women, and a man, suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the restaurant just after 1:20 a.m.
The two women succumbed at a local hospital while the man, who is not considered a suspect, survived and is assisting in the investigation.
Police learned that the women were eating with others at the restaurant. What led to the shooting remains unclear.
