California teen stabs ex-girlfriend to death after picking her up from cheerleading banquet

A California teen is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death at his Azusa house.

17-year-old Angelina Gonzalez was found dead at Daniel Rodriguez’s home Friday night, police said.

Rodriguez, 18, allegedly picked up Gonzalez from a cheerleading banquet and took her to his residence where he fatally stabbed her.

  • The girl’s stepfather tracked her cell phone to Rodriguez’s home and went to check on her.

    “When I got there, there was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff and I ran up to the officers like, hey, my daughter’s in there,” he said.

    “You know, my daughter is in there I’m trying to find her. She’s not home and that’s when they told me, sit aside for a minute.”

    Gonzalez was an Azusa High School cheerleader, wrestler, and artist. Her work has been displayed at the US Capitol.
