Missing Delaware woman found dismembered in suspect’s car in Maryland

A missing Delaware woman was found slain and dismembered last weekend in a car in Maryland, police said.

31-year-old Tracy Nyariki was reported missing by her employer Friday after she failed to show up for work for several days.

Detectives searched Nyariki’s Bear, Delaware apartment and “uncovered several suspicious circumstances that raised concerns about her safety and well-being.”

  • A Gold Alert was issued with investigators determining that Nyariki was last seen alive at around 8 a.m. on Dec. 17.

    They also named her acquaintance, 32-year-old Nobert Matara, a “potential person of interest” and began looking for him with the assistance of Aberdeen, Maryland Police.

    When Matara was eventually located in his car in the 1100 block of Philadelphia Boulevard in Aberdeen, detectives found “dismembered human remains” inside the vehicle.

    Matara was taken into custody on first-degree murder charges. He is currently awaiting extradition to Delaware.
