Murder of Texas mother-of-4 solved with help of children after body found in field

Fort Worth news, Texas news.

A Texas mother-of-four was found shot to death in a field last week and investigators said her children helped solve the case.

Taterea McGuire, 32, was found shot to death in a Fort Worth field by a landscaper mowing lawn on Dec. 5.

Her mother had reported her missing two days earlier. Her boyfriend, LeDarren Tilley, told cops he last saw her on Dec. 2 leaving her home alone.

However, McGuire’s children told detectives another story.

“Her children told [McGuire’s mother] that Taterea and LeDarren left the house together,” an affidavit said.

Tilley allegedly told the children their mother was with another individual and wouldn’t come to take them to school.

Investigators learned that the couple had been fighting for the past couple of months. Additionally, surveillance footage caught Tilley’s Tahoe driving in the area where McGuire’s body was located.

“Due to the victim’s children providing information that LeDarren was the last person seen with Taterea alive and returning without her with an explanation that was false,”

“His statements to police that are clearly false due to video evidence, and his admission of being in control of the Tahoe the entire night, it is clear of his involvement in her death.”
