Man jumps to death from Tuscaloosa’s Hugh Thomas Bridge

Tuscaloosa Police are investigating after a man jumped to his death from the Hugh Thomas Bridge early Friday.

Police Spokesperson Stephanie Taylor said that officers responded to the scene shortly after 8 a.m. after several motorists reported witnessing the fall.

The man was found dead in the area of Homewood Suites. The TPD closed Jack Warner Parkway and Nick’s Kids Avenue as officers processed the scene.

    “Although the investigation is just beginning, it will be worked to the same standard as all investigations handled by the Violent Crimes Unit,” said Captain Jack Kennedy.

    “There is nothing that appears criminal at this time. Unless that changes, to protect the privacy of the victim and his family, no other information will be released.”
