Eight people were shot, three fatally, at a home in Chicago’s Gage Park on Monday, authorities said.
Gunfire erupted at a gathering at the home near West 59th Street and South St. Louis Avenue at around 2:10 p.m.
Four men and four women, ranging in age between 20 and 35 years old, were shot. Three men succumbed to their injuries.
While no arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning, authorities revealed that they had previously responded to the home several times.
A witness described a chaotic scene, with people “running out of the house, screaming.”
Another person said that the community is so plagued by the crime that Monday's mass shooting seemed like an “everyday thing.”
“You get immune to the crime living in areas like this,” he added.
