A Massachusetts man is facing charges after he allegedly shoved his longtime roommate, killing him during Thanksgiving meal preparations.
Richard Lombardi, 65, shoved Frank Griswold, 80, to the floor on Wednesday because the elderly man wouldn’t stay away from the food he was preparing.
“(Lombardi) grabbed his back and threw Mr. Griswold to the right, tossing him to the side. The defendant did surmise that Mr. Griswold’s feet got tangled up and that he fell and hit his head on the floor,” Prosecutor Joseph Presley said.
Lombardi called the police. First responders found Griswold bleeding from the head and took him to a hospital, where he died.
Court documents revealed the pair had been living together since 2001 and had known each other from working together in the 90s.
“(Lombardi) is resigned. He’s shocked because no one had told him that his friend had passed away until I told him this morning,” Lombardi’s attorney Marshall Johnson said.
“So naturally that’s had quite a devastating effect on him mentally.”
