A Houston man is in custody in connection to the murders of his sister and his toddler niece, police said on Friday.
Officers were flagged down to a disturbance at an apartment complex on Richmond Avenue and Westminster Plaza Drive in Westchase at around 2:45 a.m.
Police noticed blood inside the apartment and spotted a man leaving the scene with blood on his clothes.
The man was arrested for questioning, authorities said.
While looking into the apartment, the officers found the bodies of a woman, between 25 and 30 years old, and a toddler girl, believed to be her daughter.
Investigators later identified the detained man as the woman’s brother and the toddler’s uncle.
Houston Police said the investigation is in the preliminary stages and further details about the crime will be released later.
