2 dead, 1 wounded in Ohio house explosion

Two people were killed, and a third injured early Tuesday morning when a residence exploded and caught flames in Bethel, Ohio.

Fire officials said the explosion occurred at around 9 a.m. at a home about 40 miles east of downtown Cincinnati.

Crews found the house on fire and debris upon arriving at the scene.

A man and a woman were confirmed dead, and a man was hospitalized after suffering burns in the incident.

  • “He comes running from the residence. His hair was still on fire. We gave him water, tried to calm him down,” a neighbor said.

    Neighboring homes sustained minor damage, officials said. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

    Residents of the area reported that the blast caused their homes to shake.

    “Felt the shockwave, fell out of bed,” the neighbor said. “Got dressed and went outside to see what happened.”

    “And as I went outside, it was snowing insulation. Pieces of the house in my driveway, in my yard.”
