Illinois teen, 18, accused of brutally abusing infant son

An Illinois teen was arrested after he allegedly abused his 7-month-old son who was brought to a hospital with severe injuries.

Tyler J. Holmes, 18, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child among a slew of other counts after staff at a Machesney Park hospital contacted the state Department of Child and Family Services about the infant’s injuries.

  • Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies learned that the baby suffered a skull fracture, two broken arms, and numerous bruises.

    The infant is hospitalized in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.

    Homes was arrested and booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
