Days after an Illinois criminal circuit judge was found shot dead at his Albion home, his wife was charged with murder and other counts in connection to the crime.
Edwards County Sheriff’s deputies found Michael Valentine deceased at his home at 12:15 p.m. while conducting a welfare check.
His wife, Megan Valentine appeared in court on Thursday. She has been charged with murder, aggravated domestic battery, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
“On behalf of all of the judges of the Second Judicial Circuit, we are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic passing of our colleagues and friend, Edwards County resident Judge Micahel J. Valentine,” Second Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Melissa Morgan said.
“Judge Valentine was a distinguished jurist who was determined in the pursuit of justice and his compassion and conduct earned him the confidence and respect of the people who appeared before him. He will be sorely missed.”
