A man is dead and at least two officers are injured after an incident at a mental health facility in Kentucky.
Green Bowling officers responded to reports of an individual in a mental health facility at the LifeSkills Adult Crisis at around 4:30 a.m.
As the officers tried to calm down the man, he reportedly “became combative, attempted to disarm one of the officers, and was able to gain control of a weapon,” the Kentucky State Police said.
The man fired at officers who fired back, fatally striking him. Two officers suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
“This information is based on the preliminary investigation into this incident and could be subject to change through the course of the ongoing investigation as investigators interview vital witnesses and gather pertinent facts.”
The identities of the deceased man and the two wounded cops were not immediately disclosed.
