Authorities in San Antonio, Texas are investigating a “terrible” incident after a toddler found a loaded gun and fatally fired at a baby in a parked vehicle Monday.
Police said the shooting took place in the parking lot of a medical facility in San Antonio.
Chief William McManus said three children and a woman were in the car at the time of the incident.
The children, aged 3, 2 years, and 11 months, were in the backseat when an older child found the loaded long loaded gun in the rear of the vehicle.
The toddler “accidentally pulled the trigger”, fatally striking the baby.
“What we have here today is a terrible, terrible tragedy,” McManus said.
The shooting is currently under investigation, and no additional details were immediately made public.
