Missing Seattle woman’s body found in suitcase by officers clearing out homeless encampment

A missing Seattle woman was found deceased in a suitcase by officers clearing out a homeless encampment late last month.

37-year-old Shannon Marie Caslin Reeder went mysteriously missing in November of last year.

On Sept. 27, Washington State Police found her body inside a large suitcase in the homeless encampment.

  • “State and local workers and local non-profits were assisting encampment residents and clearing the site of debris when the startling discovery was made,” police said Friday.

    Authorities launched a homicide investigation to determine when and how Reeder died.

    “Shannon was silly, spontaneous, and carefree,” a friend said of the victim.

    “A new lip gloss, new shoes and she was a happy girl.”
