Suspect fleeing cops outside SC sheriff’s building runs over deputy

A Lexington County Sheriff's deputy was hospitalized Tuesday after he was run over by a suspect fleeing arrest outside the department’s building.

Antwan Martel Jeter, 36, came to the department on 521 Gibson Road to register as an offender at around 4 p.m. when he learned that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Trying to flee from deputies, Jeter “ran to a car where a struggle ensued as they attempted to take him into custody.”

    Jeter was later arrested at a family member’s home.

    The injured deputy has been hospitalized and is expected to recover.
