Authorities in New Jersey have charged a woman with attempted murder charges more than a month after she allegedly stabbed her 4-year-old niece several times.
Mabel Campechano was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon, and child endangerment in connection to the August 23 incident.
Campechano is accused of stabbing her 4-year-old niece Amber “multiple times” while babysitting her.

The girl suffered a punctured lung and liver and a gash on the forehead following the brutal attack.
The victim’s father told local media outlets that he was left “dumbfounded” and “shocked” by the attack.
Witnesses reported seeing Campechano talking to herself as she paced around the neighborhood.
