DUI driver arrested after on-duty St. Louis police officer dies in crash

A suspect was arrested in connection to a fatal DUI crash that claimed the life of a St. Louis police officer Sunday evening.

Officer David Lee was working on a separate crash site on Interstate 70 when a drunken driver lost control and struck him.

Firefighters responded to the crash after the victim from the initial crash used Lee’s radio to seek help for the officer.

    “I ask that you join me in prayer for [Office Lee’s family],” she added.

    Police arrested 24-year-old Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez on charges of driving while under the influence in the death of an officer and operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license.
