North Carolina boy, 7, dies after being shot by stray bullet during argument

An innocent North Carolina boy succumbed to his injuries Sunday, days after he was shot by a stray bullet while sitting outside his apartment, police in Burlington said.

7-year-old Mason Jenkins was struck by a bullet Thursday night when gunfire erupted during an argument involving a group of people.

Tremaine Armstrong, 18, was arrested hours later on charges of attempted murder and discharging a weapon in an occupied building.

    Kemontae Crosby, 21, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.

    On Monday, Burlington Police and Alamance County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 24-year-old Syquan Jaheem Mason-Rhames and charged him with first-degree murder.

    The BPD has asked several witnesses who have not yet come forward to share the information they have to make sure that “justice is served for Mason and his family.”
